UKAS Accreditation (ISO/IEC 17025:2017)
UKAS Accreditation (ISO/IEC 17025:2017)
Technical Solutions Group (TSG), Laboratory Reference (31181), is accredited by UKAS, the United Kingdom Accreditation Service, to ISO/IEC 17025:2017 standard for the activity of forensic Cell Site Analysis for Geolocation.
UKAS is the UK’s official national accreditation body, recognised by the government for assessing the competence of testing laboratories. ISO/IEC 17025:2017 is the internationally recognised standard for the competence and quality of testing laboratories.
In plain terms, this accreditation means an independent authority has assessed our laboratory methods and confirmed we operate to high technical standards. UKAS assessors have reviewed, and will continue to review, our processes and staff, which gives you assurance of our competence, impartiality, and consistent ability to produce reliable results.
Our accredited services comply with the Forensic Science Regulator’s Code of Practice - the official quality standard for forensic work in the UK. This means that you can have confidence that accredited results from TSG are produced to a standard acceptable in court and adhere to all required professional guidelines.

Work Inside and Outside Our Accredited Scope
Work Inside and Outside Our Accredited Scope
Not every service we offer is covered under our formal UKAS accreditation. To be transparent, here is the distinction:
• Accredited Activities: These are the services within our UKAS-accredited scope. They include defined, validated tasks like our forensic cell site analysis for geolocation. All such accredited services are listed in our official UKAS Schedule of Accreditation. Work in this category has been assessed to meet ISO 17025 standards, so you know it’s been through rigorous quality control.
• Activities Outside the Scope: These are services not explicitly covered by our UKAS accreditation, such as bespoke analyses that fall outside our accredited methods, and activity-level opinions that UKAS cannot currently accredit such as opinions on co-location.
We want to reassure you that if a piece of work lies outside our accredited scope, we will still carry it out with the same care, expertise, and high standards as always; the only difference is that this particular work has not been formally assessed and certified by UKAS.
It is normal for accredited labs to offer some additional services that are not on their accreditation schedule and we handle those with professional diligence even though they don’t come with the UKAS-accredited stamp.

Clear Labeling in Our Reports
Clear Labeling in Our Reports
We clearly identify accredited versus non-accredited work in every TSG report to avoid any confusion. Any activity that was conducted under our UKAS accreditation is explicitly declared as accredited in the report. Conversely, if any part of our work on your case falls outside the accredited scope, it is marked with an asterisk (*). This transparent marking follows industry best practice, ensuring you are fully informed about the status of each element of our analysis.

We make sure you know the accreditation status of our work. When you engage TSG and we discuss the scope of work for your request, we will tell you upfront which parts of the work will be carried out under our UKAS-accredited processes and which parts (if any) would fall outside our accredited scope. You can have full confidence in our accredited results and also trust that any non-accredited analyses are performed with utmost professionalism; all clearly indicated for your awareness.
In summary, TSG’s UKAS accreditation to ISO/IEC 17025:2017 and compliance with the Forensic Science Regulator’s Code of Practice demonstrate our commitment to quality and reliability.
